Peveril House: Peveril Drive
House, c1875 now extended and more recently converted into flats (c1953). Area previously used, since beginning of 19c, as garden allotments and known as Fishpond Gardens. Two storeys with large two storey side extension (c1910). Red brick facades with colour difference between original part of house and later extension. Prominent gables on front facade with blue brick diaper patterns. Canted and rectangular bays with brick / terracotta string courses at storey height level. Corbelled brick eaves and gable verges with brick dentil detail on original house. Stone door and window surrounds generally with smaller stone details elsewhere. Stone mullions and drip moulds to window openings on original house. Some alterations to door and window openings. Stonework has remained mainly unpainted. Double pitched roof with gables and hipped gable. Plain tiles with ornamental perforated ridge tiles. Hipped roof to canted bay. Red brick chimney stacks with stone plinth, brick relief patterning and corbelled brick caps. Buff ‘crown’ chimney pots. Casement windows and fixed lights to windows of original house with sash windows on later extension. A number of door and window alterations or replacements. Original boundary wall and gate piers to Peveril Drive and Lenton Road with stone plinths, red brick walls and red brick and stone saddleback copings. Original brick gate piers with brick dentil detailing under stepped stone caps. New opening formed and gate piers added on Peveril Drive to provide access to later side extension c1910. Former outbuilding at bottom of garden facing Kenilworth Road now converted into a garage.
