Parkdale: Peveril Drive
Now part of large detached house (including 12 Peveril Drive) but originally, probably a separate dwelling. Part of similarly styled group of late Victorian villas, also including 8 and 10 Peveril Drive and 24 Hamilton Drive. Built c1890 in an area previously used since beginning of 19c for garden allotments, known as Fishpond Gardens. In single household use. Three storeys above ground including attic storey. Cellars. Three storey rear wing with single storey rear extension. Red brick facades with brick / terracotta string courses at storey height levels. Single storey box window bay with hipped roof on front facade. Stone sills and chamfered lintels to door and window openings including moulded details to main entrance doorway and glazed apertures above door. Stonework now painted. Gabled roof to house and rear wing with clay plain tiles plus perforated clay ridge tiles and finials. Gabled dormer on front facade. Prominent, painted timber bargeboards at gables. Original brick chimney stacks with corbelled caps. Many original chimney pots. Some original c.i. rainwater fittings and downpipes replaced. Original casement windows on main front and side elevations with original sash windows predominantly at rear. Some window alterations. Original brick boundary wall to Peveril Drive now partly altered. Original house remains mainly intact externally with no significant alterations or extension. Remnants of conservatory / tufa grotto at rear. Original garden area enlarged by inclusion of part of adjacent (former tennis court ?) land.
