Prominently located close to southern entrance of The Park, c1886-88. Part of a larger building accommodating three houses (1, 2 and 3). Building is similar in form and scale to adjacent building which also accommodates three houses (6, 7 and ‘Ferndene’). In single household use. Area previously used for garden allotments, known as Fishpond Gardens, since beginning of 19c. Three storeys including attic space with two storey rear wing. Two storey canted bay on Hope Drive facade and two storey shallow box bay facing Peveril Drive. Originally, outbuilding / privy in back garden area. Plain red brick facades with string course and projecting brick headers at first floor storey height level plus stepped brickwork detail at verges on gables. Chamfered brick reveals to some window openings. Stone dressings to main door and window apertures, including Tudor arched head to main entrance doorway, plus chamfered lintels and sills. The stonework has remained unpainted. Gabled roofs, partially hipped on main roof with hipped roofs over rear wing and bays. Clay plain tiles with bonnet hip tiles and ornamental, perforated clay ridge tiles and finials. Projecting, painted wooden eaves and bargeboards at gables. Prominent brick chimney stacks with expressed flues plus single string course, corbelled brick caps and buff fireclay louvred chimney pots. Some original rainwater fittings have been replaced. Original casement windows on main facades with single transom and single or double mullions. Also, sash windows with glazing bars at rear. Original boarded main entrance door and panelled back door. No significant external alterations or extensions. Garage building in rear garden area added c1932. Original brick boundary wall to Hope Drive and Peveril Drive with plinth, saddleback copings and stone caps to gate piers. Rear access to back garden area via communal passageway.
