Part of a group of nine similarly styled houses on triangular plot enclosed by Lenton Road, Park Drive and Holles Crescent. Built c1865-70, possibly by John Loverseed with architects Hine & Evans. One of a pair of houses (with 2 Lenton Road) in prominent position at junction of Lenton Road and Park Drive. Original single storey outbuildings in small yard area at rear of house, now replaced by pair of flat roofed garages c1973. Flat roofed single storey kitchen extension also added at this time. House previously converted into two flats c1972, subsequently altered back into single household use c1975. Central window in bay facing the garden replaced by pair of doors c1975-80. Three storeys plus basement/cellars. Red brick facades with stone dressings. Range of decorative brickwork features including buff brick string courses, bands of small recessed rectangular brick panels plus diaper pattern on entrance facade. Two storey canted window bay on east facing facade with shell shaped lead roof. Similar two storey bay on north facing facade with hipped slate roof. Bull nose brick detail at eaves and gable verges. Projecting brick plinth to facades with stone capping, (now partly coated with paint). Combination of rectangular and semicircular arched openings with stone surrounds to original door and windows. Stonework generally plain with splay reveals but mouldings added to cornice details on bays, main entrance doorway and trefoil shaped small first floor window above entrance doorway. The stonework has been painted. Slate gabled roof with clay ridge tiles and lead valleys. Roof windows added. Originally, red brick chimney stacks with corbelled brick head and stone caps, now partially removed or much altered. Original c.i. rainwater fittings have been replaced and further pipework added. Original sash windows generally, some with glazing bars. Original half glazed, six panelled main entrance door. Original red brick boundary wall and steps to adjacent road with half round copings and stone plinth. New opening formed in boundary wall to provide car access to garages. Original brick garden wall adjacent to rear passageway and garden hedge adjacent to No.2 Lenton Road. No other significant external alterations.
